Warp's Responsive Scripts

As we started working on bringing the responsive design to our Warp 6 theme framework we quickly realized that it is not only the CSS which does all the work. We also needed JavaScripts which would add even more functionality in addition to the CSS media queries. Fortunately the JavaScript engines of modern browsers offer a function called window.matchMedia which can evaluate media queries so you are able to handle the result. And for all browsers which support media queries in CSS but lack of the window.matchMedia function we added a tiny polyfill to add this functionality. We also wrapped the window.matchMedia function in our own jQuery function $.onMediaQuery which makes it easier to attach multiple callback functions to a media query. Warp Gets Responsive

It has been a little over a year since we released the Warp 6 theme framework. It was a major success for us and we have improved it constantly. That's why we are really excited to announce the next major framework release Warp 6.2 which comes with a completely responsive design which adapts perfectly for all device resolutions. We will do two blog posts where we'll take a closer look at how we implemented the responsive design in Warp. This part will focus on the responsive layout and its CSS. But first of all the good news: It was really easy to make the Warp framework responsive. Thanks to our current CSS framework, which already provided a fluid grid system. Media Queries and Breakpoints We added a new responsive.css file to Warp, which contains all the CSS we need to make our themes responsive. Joomla 1.5 reached its offical end-of-life in April 2012. Most theme and extension developers already dropped Joomla 1.5 support and we also think it is time to say good bye. This is why we will stop developing templates for Joomla 1.5. The next June template will be the last template available for Joomla 1.5. The same goes for Widgetkit and ZOO. Internet Explorer 7 was originally released in 2006 and does not support the latest web standards and technologies compared to modern browsers which offer a rich support for HTML5 and CSS3. Its market share fell under 3% worldwide this month and many companies like Google or Open Source CMS like Drupal dropped IE7 support for their upcoming releases. So we also decided to discontinue IE7 browser support for our themes and extensions from July 1st 2012 on. This step allows us to focus on modern web technologies for our next major Warp framework release coming in July! We are very excited about it. More news coming soon!

Today we are excited to announce that ZOO 2.5 is stable now! As always a big thank you to all of our BETA testers! ZOO 2.5 is now available to the public for free. The new release is about integrating ZOO with our upcoming Widgetkit and a much improved item ordering: Make sure to read about its new Features in our previous blog post. Important Upgrade Information We have spent some time to improve the upgrade path, so upgrading should be easier. Please make sure to backup prior to the upgrade. Keep in mind that once you've upgraded, you won't be able to downgrade again without a backup. As stated above, the ZOOtools will be removed by this update. Please also make sure to install the latest Widgetkit version (BETA16 or higher)! Where applicable the Video element will be converted to the new Media element by this update. Today we present you the eagerly awaited ZOO 2.5 BETA release. With this release the ZOO got refurbished quite a bit. It revamps elements and jazzes them up with the Widgetkit goodness. That also means that we are saying ?good bye? to the ZOOtools, they will be replaced by their Widgetkit equivalents. Furthermore we are discarding the remaining MooTools scripts.
