Goldielocks was originally cast to play Eponine in the film adaptation of Les Miserables (starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, and Helena Bonham Carter), but has since been replaced by Samantha Barks, who performed the role at the 25th anniversary concert. So, basically, this is amazing news. Barks found out that she landed the big-screen part when producer Cameron Mackintosh announced it live on stage after a performance of Oliver!, in which Barks plays Nancy. The innovative Japanese art director Eiko Ishioka has died after a battle with pancreatic cancer, according to The New York Times. She was 73. Even if you weren't familiar with her otherworldly body of work, you no doubt came across it. She created memorable costumes for feature films such as Bram Stoker's Dracula and The Cell, theatrical productions such as M. Butterfly and Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, and collaborated with musicians Björk and Grace Jones. She also made forays into the world of advertising, most famously for Japanese retailer Parco for whom she created an ad in which actress Faye Dunaway silently peels and eats a hard-boiled egg.
